I use the Andersen Ultimate hitch.
This. This right here. I'm not an Andersen hater, but I went from a B&W Companion to an Andersen to a Trailer Saver TS3.
The ride with the B&W Companion was fine, but I was over its ratings by 1,000 lbs.
The ride with the Andersen was HORRENDOUS. So much movement in the cab of the truck. It threw us around and sucked. I kept it for 4 months before upgrading.
When I upgraded, I went a little crazy with the Trailer Saver TS3. But we fulltime and I could sort of justify the $3,000 spend.
But ditch that stupid pyramid. You're the 3rd person now that I've heard has a poor ride with it.
For every naysayer ,how many praise the ride of the Andersen , just saying. To many variables .
I tow with two different hitches with my Ram 3500. One is an 18K Reese slider , great hitch, solid, no chucking . I also tow with the rail mount Andersen , it sits right at 5 inches further back then the Reese. You could ride in my truck, and if you didn't know, you would not be able to tell which I am towing with. They both tow equally well .
Reason I got the Andersen is I go to Montana for the summer, and do a lot of fishing, and have an inflatable boat . With the Reese it was heavy, and a bit awkward to take out of the truck to haul my inflatable pontoon boat . The Andersen solved that. Rest of my trips I use the Reese, I feel its a little easier to hitch, and unhitch .
Although the OP has a bit different Andersen the concept is the same. It could be getting a bit of fore, and aft movement. Retorquing with the pin weight on it might help. Also shim the corners as mentioned, giving that base a bit more solid surface to sit on. Our beds are a bit flimsy these days.
Your Trailer Saver probably did more for your ride then anything. Did you ever have that connected to the Andersen , or did you go right to the B&W and the trailer saver ?????
