Class 5 Equalizer Hitch?

My new Dodge 2500 has a Class 5 hitch with an approximately 2.5" receiver. The truck came with a slide in adapter to make it a 2" but I would prefer to not use it as it allows some movement and noise between the two. Is there a tow bar that comes out of the truck as 2.5" and reduces to 2" so I can utilize my equalizer hitch? JH

  • Not that I'm aware of.

Reese does make a weight distributing and sway control hitch that uses a 2.5" draw bar. The whole hitch is bigger/heavier and designed for heavier use but is the same basic design as their smaller 2" hitch called, if I remember correctly, the Striaght Line, or Dual Cam.

If all you want is a 2" opening that doesn't rattle, you could weld your 2" sleeve adapter into the hitch and leave it in there permanently, if you have no need for the 2.5" hitch opening. There are also various anti-rattle devices you can try, to reduce some of the slopping.
