- VeebyesExplorer III really don't see much difference between the hook up/set up deal. Steps are the same too. How often are you back & forth to the BR during the day?
The biggest difference is the cost. A really nice 5er & truck can be had for the cost of a mid market class A without the toad. Yes, the truck can be a bit of a pain to park because of its size but we all could use the exercise by parking further from the market door. What is a few extra seconds when you are on vacation? - fairway2002ExplorerWise man once told me. I rather Tow 5k lbs with 45k lbs then tow 14k lbs with 6k Lbs.

I don't know that I totally agree with that. Unhooking a 5th wheel is as easy as pulling the lever and unhooking the plug. Tough to get much easier than that. All the other stuff has to be done with the motorhome too, such as hooking up the electric, sewer, water.
Once you start getting older you "might" agree that hooking up a toad is much easier than hooking and unhooking a fiver. It was for me. I'll never go back. Plus the ride is way more comfortable.
Some of the toads I've seen have to have the towing bars removed in order to drive them around. That looks seriously inconvenient.
And someone else mentioned the steps in a 5th wheel. I'll take those steps over the steps to get into a Class A. Those things are steep and tall, and more of them. - Jebby14Explorerstill have to hitch up. no difference. to me the advantage of a trailer is that you avoid another drive line to maintain.

Howdy! We've had class A's for almost 20yrs, thinking about switching to a 5th wheel rig. Main reason is dealing with todes. Any thoughts...

- AridonExplorerWe've had both. We prefer the 5th. Mostly because the layouts inside are superior and there are many more options.
Travel isn't quite as nice as a Class A but still quite nice. Occasionally I'll have to setup in the rain, which I would of done anyway in my Class A but I did have the option to not bother with it until morning if I wanted. Never happened but i could of waited.
For us there is really no comparison. Fifth wheels just have better interiors and better floor plans. The slight differences when traveling aren't worth it to us to swing us back to a Class A. - RubiranchExploreryou don't have to take the 5th wheel into a dealer to get the oil changed

Have a class A, thinking of going to 5th wheel, any regrets? - Rock_WellsExplorerTried a search, no luck...
