Cleaning the camper floor.

Spent the last 2 hours vacuuming the TT floor. And It is VINAL. But I like to never got all the sand out of the entry / door matts. Don't think I ever really did. But I did get a couple inches out of them. I beat them, and shook them, and vacuumed them

Makes me wonder how you would go about getting the sand out of carpeted camper floors. Can't take that out and shake it.

I have a Bissel PRO-Heat hot water extractor..Does a fairly good job of carpet claning.
  • On the road, I use a Bissel Floor sweeper. It doesn't require electric, works on both carpet and hard flooring and stores in the MH in a small space. Its cheap. Walmart sells them for $24. Restaurants use them a lot because they pick up spills without making noise. The floor gets a good cleaning with a vacuum when I get home.
  • Our lot is gravel but we have LOTS of pine needles. Not sure which I despise more, sand or pine needles. And both of our dogs have velcro fur.

I vacuum my vinyl floors all the time and then occasionally swiffer them after vacuuming.
  • We have an Astro Turf entry mat that we bought at Camping World. We wipe our feet on it as we enter. If we are on a sandy site I shake it out daily. An amazing amount of dirt comes out every time. It seems to help keep the dirt from tracking into the trailer or camper.
  • A trick I learned from boaters is to use Baby Powder to get the sand to drop off you. Works for more than just your feet and not many downsides.

Simple, a little pan of water near the door.

Despite what the girls, and us pilots, think gravity IS a good thing. Touch your sandy foot or shoe to water and the sand instantly releases and drops to the bottom of the water.

We keep a hose at the front of the TT near the door, at the edge of the awning mat. We rinse our feet just before we go up the steps. Still fills up.

Could have been worse: it could have been vinyl flooring which I've heard is harder to clean. :)

It does have vinyl. Which is very easy to clean. It's the rug part that took so long
