I use about 2 - 2.5 inches of the bottle.
If you go ahead and use your tank with the Dawn in there, and then flush (using a clear section of hose), you'll be amazed at all the bubbles coming out too. Even though mixed with black tank waste, all the Dawn will also help keep the tanks slick and help drain smooth, leaving minimal residue. What residue is left, is like pouring Dawn on your counter top and letting it sit. This spill grease on top The Dawn will break down the grease, even if the Dawn is dried. Wipes right off. The same thing will happen in your black tanks.
So, after EVERY tank flush and / or clean, we always pour about 2 inches from the bottle and then use the toilet normal. I really does help keep odors down and keeps the tank clean.
A second rinse of the tank, or back flushing from your grey tank will pull out even more.
