- loggenrockExplorerI like my alarms separate - so I can tell WHY it is alarming... I use a Kidde battery-powered CO alarm with a digital read-out, so there is no drain on my single house battery. The propane detector is still 12V off the house battery. Whether 12V or battery, the sensors in any of these units wear out (read: become less sensitive) over time, same with smoke detectors. Hence the 7 year expiration timeframe. No different than ones in your stix and brix... ST
- 72cougarxr7ExplorerI just installed an Atwood CO/LP detector, the manual states it has a 7 year lifespan from the time it is first powered up, +/- 128 days.
I bought online for about $50. - OldmeExplorerI not not think so.
All should be marked with an expiration date which is usually only 5 years. - LadyRVerExplorer IIIn 11 years of fulltiming, I have had only one fail and that was within the first year. Fortunately was under warranty. IMO, fulltiming is not the culprite.
