I agree that some threads get nasty and should be closed. However, I don't believe that a thread can be ALL bad. Ever if the content becomes inappropriate, there is usually some useful information or opinion before it blows up. I don't think, except in rare circumstances, that a thread should be deleted. Yes, there are certain topics that will always get closed in short order, but deleting an entire thread is unnecessary. IMHO.
