Well as long as we're on the topic of post replies, can anyone answer me this, Why do people "repost" in their reply the post they are answering, some times as many as 4-5 repost within their answers? Seems that this is just a waste of space on the thread.
Sometimes, it's simply to let folks know to whom they are responding (as sometimes, like this, the person is responding to a secondary subject matter in the thread).
Sometimes, it's because the OP is a long one and several pages back. By quoting the OP, the poster can easily refer back to the OP and make sure they get all the questions answered.
Sometimes, it's to make sure when that when you're responding to a snotty comment, that the poster who wrote the snotty comment can't come back and quietly change their post to something innocuous, thereby leaving your post looking like a freak (and yes, there are people who will do that purposely to make others look bad).
If I'm responding to a post with multiple quotes attached, I usually erase all but the comment to which I'm responding in order to reduce the length of the post.
A lot of people don't know how to use the quote button, they copy and paste one sentence in there post and we read it not knowing if they are saying the same thing as a previous post or are they trying to quote someone. Just use the quote button.
