- imgoin4itExplorerThe dingy towing guide gives a list of what can and cannot be towed but also states ".... buyers should always first confirm flat-towablity by consulting the respective vehicle owners manual before the purchase is finalized." Probably the very best advise in the entire booklet.

I suspect the AWD is the clincher. Chances are the 2WD version is towable.
If it's the HoHoMag Dinghy Guide, they claim they list only those vehicles OK'd by the manufacturer for flat towing. In this case it seems somebody made a clerical error. - j-dExplorer IIIf it's the HoHoMag Dinghy Guide, they claim they list only those vehicles OK'd by the manufacturer for flat towing. The manual was written by the Manufacturer, not a third party. Which one do YOU think is more likely to be correct?
The 2009 Dinghy towables book shows that I can tow my 2009 Equinox LS AWD dinghy style, but my manual says no. Which source do I believe and is there a safe way to know for sure?
Put it another way, if your Equinox was still under warranty, you flat-towed it and fried the transmission, do you really think it would be covered?

- angeburnettExplorerThanks so much. We just traded up from a travel trailer to a Class A and didn't know my car couldn't be towed. I'm guessing we will trade it now cause having to purchase and store a trailer takes up a lot of room both here and at a campground.... Thanks for the input, felt safer that way too, but the Dinghy Towing guide from 2009 totally through me for a loop.
- GrandpereExplorerThe owner's manual is always correct. It is what is established by Chevy. The towing manuals are not always up on every vehicle put out, and it could be that the manual transmission version is towable and the automatic transmission is not towable but they did not get the distinction correct.
According to the Remco Industries web site, your Equinox is not towable and must be put on a trailer. Remco Clicky - BumpyroadExploreryour owner's manual says NO. that seems fairly easy to understand. will the Dinghys book publisher pay for a new tranny if yours goes bad? it could just be a CYA by the mfr. but do you really want to take a chance?
