Converting from full size bed to two singles

I am thinking about converting our full size E.W. bed to two N. S.singles in our travel trailer.
It would give more flexibility and better night time sleep.
Has any one done this? I have seen new trailers with this lay out.
The only problem I see is the corridor to the back bedroom is not in the middle of the trailer I might have to slightly angle the end of one bed frame and mattress.
I have the skills to do this but need to think it through I don't want to have to undo it.

  • The remodel would still accommodate the storage and electrical fuse box under the street side bed. The other side is clear. It actually would give me better more accessible underbed storage.
It would be an easy mod, I am just trying to decide if I want to do it.

  • If the mod is not reversible, it will likely affeCT resale value.
  • Is there enough length to make a decent bed in the same space? Most sideways beds are standard queen width, 60". That's not long enough for a bed turned longways.

What is under the current bed that you may need to rework?

This is the biggest thing to be concerned with. Otherwise, an RV bed is not a very complicated thing: a box with fairly light frame members and a plywood top, typically.

If you need to rework the storage compartment layout or move the water heater or something, that can get to be a good bit more complicated. Likewise, if you have to move an interior partition or change the arrangement of windows that could involve a lot of hassle and work assuming it's even practical.
