Propane generates Carbon monoxide? All those warehouses running propane fork lifts. Thought it was safe.
It IS safe! The key is adequate ventilation! Many of us on these forums have been harping on this for literally YEARS! The subject comes up every fall. To keep such appliances SAFE, it is very simple: READ and FOLLOW the safety warnings in the Operators Manual for the appliance!
From the quoted article: "The deaths of two adults and three children in a small cabin in north-central Pennsylvania were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning caused by an improperly ventilated propane heater, a coroner said Sunday."
"...improperly ventilated propane heater..."
Apparently, it can not be stressed too much; if it consumes fuel, ANY kind of fuel, it MUST have adequate ventilation! No ifs, ands, buts or maybes, IT MUST HAVE ADEQUATE VENTILATION, or it could KILL you!
READ and FOLLOW the instructions!
I nearly lost my life using a catalytic heater over 40 years ago. It is not the CO but the burning up of O2. I've harped on here before but have given up as the "experts" know best. I'll sit back and see them justify their Buddy heaters etc. I feel sorry for the children.. The adults not so much.
