I live in a very high salt content in the air place. My house is less than 1000' from the open ocean. For longevity of vehicle body the name of the game is to cover the undersides with something that will stick there, not WD40 which washes off by looking at it too hard.
There are undercoater sprays which remain sticky & don't easily wash off. I use Boeshield on boat parts exposed to salt water. It was developed for aircraft & remains waxy once on for awhile. My reasoning is that if it stays on landing gear at over 100mph on wet runways, it will stay anywhere I am going to spray it.
