Electric fridge and water was common 50yrs ago.
Yes, 30 amp rigs have gone up in power usage but within what a system that is up to code will accommodate. 50amp rigs with load shedding have upped the ante by a large amount to the point that they can take the system beyond what the code can accommodate. If you get a lot of 50amp rigs on a branch, you will have problems on that branch and it will affect multiple customers negatively.
