Y'know, I have been thinking about this issue since the thread started, and it occurs to me that the older RV parks we have been in had 20/30 amp power pedestals only. The newer parks had 20/30/50 amp pedestals. The Forest Service campgrounds have no power at all, except for some that had power for the camp host.
I guess that is why we have never encountered the described issue...
