I have been following this thread since the beginning, and I have yet to see anybody explain exactly how a 50 amp rig can draw more than 30 amps from a 30 amp socket/breaker! Perhaps I missed it...
I have, though, seen many say that two air conditioners can not be run on 30 amps, yet my 30 amp 2 A/C rig runs both of them no problem. Yes, I can even run the microwave with both A/C units operating!
Apparently you did as myredracer offered a clear explanation back on page 9 of this discussion. A 30 amp breaker is a thermo magnetic device and will pass much more than just 30 amps - for a time. However, do that enough times and the breaker contacts will burn & pit, leading to increased resistance which in turn leads to more burning & pitting and eventual failure, a cost for replacement the campground owner then has to cover. Whether we're talking a 50 amp rig on a 50 amp site or a 30 amp rig on a 30 amp site the less you draw the better it is for you, the better it is for everyone else. And after all these pages of discussion there's still so much resistance to the idea of any campground owner not wanting a 50 amp owner to plug into 30 amp service with a dogbone? :h
