There are a ton of assumptions made by rvers and rv park owners that make this issue nothing but a finger pointing mess.

I strenuously object to the idea that just because my unit has a 50amp connection I am a power hog and should not be on 30amp pedestal's.
You might ask the RV manufacturers and dealers why they sell so many 50 amp RVS and fail to tell buyers that power can be such a problem. Some might argue it's the buyer's fault for failing to do the research beforehand.
The NEC in the US has detailed requirements for electrical systems in RV parks. However, the Canadian electrical code (CEC) has no such section specific to RV parks/CGs and designing one here is very different. We have no min. requirement for number of 50 amp pedestals. Demand calculations and sizing wiring and the max. allowable voltage drops are very different. It would be interesting to compare the same CG designed under the CEC and under the NEC to the latest code editions.
I see no problem with CGs turning away 50 amp RVs. It's unfortunate but not their fault. I've never seen this in our travels through 7 western states and we stay mostly in older CGs too.
