After having experienced such a charlatan myself over an issue not RV related, and even when the courts sided in our favor, awarded our judgment, and we had absolutely every jot and tittle legally in place .... um ???? .... it's impossible to collect from a pig! We never received a single penny from him. After several long court battles, we had to just give up, bit the bullet on all our losses, and move on. Some people ARE just greedy pigs! Those victims will NEVER collect a penny back.
We had a similar experience with a drunk driver who backended our parked car. He was ordered to pay for the car, but did not have any money. In the end our insurance company paid for it. What irritates me is that the taxpayers are footing the bill for the in-effective legal system. - Amen Dutch
Had it happen to me too when I was a lot younger. Sold a car and never got paid in spite of court judgements etc.
The criminal got away free, with my car.
Maximum jail time and maximum fines is the best thing these scumbags can be handed. They will never make restitution. Take them out of circulation so they cannot rip off others. - DutchmenSportExplorerAfter having experienced such a charlatan myself over an issue not RV related, and even when the courts sided in our favor, awarded our judgment, and we had absolutely every jot and tittle legally in place .... um ???? .... it's impossible to collect from a pig! Lots of stupid people in that article. In fact, the only sensible person mentioned in that whole thing is the RV dealer's attorney. Pay them back after spending years in prison and living a court-supervised life...what kind of idiots are these people??? Folks threatening to commit suicide over being defrauded for $28K. What a bunch of ****. I hope the guy spends a minimal amount of time in prison and gets to the restitution efforts quickly. Who in the world would advocate for a lengthy prison sentence, all things considered??
You make a good point. However, there are two issues to consider. The first, of course, is what deterrent is there to encourage others not to engage in the same behavior? Punishment serves not only for the perpetrator but to discourage potential perpetrators. Secondly, why would a dishonest man all of a sudden become honest and pay back the money? Not likely. - colliehaulerExplorer IIIWow one couple making payments on two rv's without the titles to either.
- Toolguy5Explorer IIISad story, just can't understand why people have to result in dishonest behavior.
- Wow, what a sad story......
But good he was charged and sentenced.
Sad for the victims who had their lives turned upside down. - WTP-GCExplorerLots of stupid people in that article. - FizzExplorerFor all you people who think they got ripped off, you could pass this article on to your dealer... or should you :)
