I replaced my Chevy factory hitch (which was cracked at the seem). The crack was my fault. I am not sure about current trucks, but the hitches on the HD trucks (at least for the 2005 plus or minus a few years) only had a tongue weight of 750 with a weight distributed weight of 1000lb if I remember correctly. Did a pre-travel inspection, found the crack, hopped onto the Duramax website to see if common, only to find that I was not the only one….I was pointed to the owners manual, and guess what I found….I was over weight on my hitch, glad I caught it.
Went on the hunt for a good hitch, found the Curt (Made in the USA) and can handily way more tongue weight and trailer weight than I will ever need. It did not cost an arm and a leg either.
So, a long way of saying, they make a good product, just be sure it is rated for what you will use it for.
