I went out to my TV this morning and the contents of the center console were laying on my front seat. Some clown took my seven year old Garmin GPS. But they left the mounting bracket and power cord....

Two things you should do with all your attractive electrons and stuff.
And note: I said ATTRACTIVE, this does not necessarily mean valuable. Many thieves will leave a thousand dollar item and grabe the 10 buck item cause they think it will be easier to fence.
First, Engrave your state of residence and driver's license numnber NOT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER on it, Like this (Phony drivers license number Michigan format)
MI/A123 456 789 012
Second: Record the make, Model, Color, Style, Serial number and the location of that engraving(S) and keep this record in multiple places (Taped to the bottom of your sock drawer, On your hard drive, In the map pocket, or wherever)
You may, some day, make a police officer, very happy doing this.
