We had an event in front of an arena in Montreal a little over a year ago. Had a friend parked right at the entrance of the arena on the street, well lit and pretty busy with a lot of residents across the street. We get outside and my friends passenger side window was smashed, glass all over the place, and his GPS gone. Police told my friend that a GPS is one of the easiest things for a thief to "get rid of". There are so many out there that if you see one posted on one of your local For Sale sites, there is hardly any way to know if it's yours or not. All they need to see is evidence that one is (or might be) in there and they wait for a clear shot and nobody around and BOOM... only takes seconds. Took his cheap-ass GPS while his brand new iPod was sitting on one of those air vent holders right beside it.
