To be fair the salesman wanted to sell me two. The way the RV is built there is no way you could fit the 2nd one as the air trap it partially under the AC unit already.Bought another brand for 30$(CAD) and installed it myself in maybe 15 minutes; most of that spent climbing up to and down the roof to raise/lower the vent to make sure it fits before I drill and bolt.I saved at least 50$ and am sure that it's well installed and secure. Also gave me a chance to snap a picture of the schematic inside the AC unit to try to see if I have a hard start capacitor.

don't like the idea of drill and bolt if you bolted it directly to RV roof. I always mounted mine with the aluminum L brackets fastened to the vent flange.bumpy

Drilled the side of the vent and used the l-bracket and bolts. Would not want to start poking holes in the roof either.

Dealer installs are always a rip-off. The only things I had the dealer install on my rig was the Washer/dryer, and my 3rd A/C.

And this is why I try to do everything myself as much as possible. I am more invested in doing it right than anyone else no matter how much they are paid. When I adjust speeds on my bike I spend more time than the shop guy from lack of practice but also from wanting perfection; not just good enough.

If only we could get expertise uploaded to our brain like in the Matrix. Most of the time I have no idea how to repair something and by the time I research it the complexity and tools needed it push me towards hiring someone.

We had a dealer install two of those on a previous MH. Instead of bolting them to the vent flange, they took the easy way out and screwed the brackets to the roof. It took us a long time to figure out where those leaks came from.

If I am going to pay someone to work for me I am not going to complain about the price, as the highest skilled workmen demand the highest wage. I used to do all my own work and still do most of it but as I age and have more discretionary income sometimes I pay others to work so I can play.

Think of it this way. The next time someone wants you to do something for them, you can bill them a $130 per hour labor.

Seems fair to charge 95/hour for expertise(propane,electric or woodworking). Turning screws should be less.

Last week I bought 4 MaxxAirs on sale from Camping World at $24.97 each. They were the cheapest I could find. Those prices are good through 6/15. They should be here tomorrow.
