Destination Tri-Fold Sofa sleeper by Lippert

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience with this sofa? We are needing to replace our sofa bed and I like the looks of this one. However, the Camping World near us does not have one on the floor to try, and with all things RV, I prefer to try before I buy. My main concern is comfort. If anyone has one, is it hard as a rock, or fairly comfy? I know so much depends on personal taste, but I think we can all agree that sofa's such as the jackknife or the fold down sofa beds are not the most comfortable options, to say the least. I have no interest in the airbed styles, so this would be a good option. Anyone?

Thanks,

Sharon
  • I have one that is leather. We really like it, actually more comfortable than the stock mattress.
  • Bumpy, I have already checked out the Magic Bed, and while a lot of people like them, they are rather expensive. Thanks for the idea though.

Goldstalker, are you talking about the tri-fold or the magic bed? I only ask because your post came after bumpy's, and I don't want to assume anything.

    Thank you both for responding.

  • **UPDATE**

The Camping World near us finally got one in and we got to play with it. It is pretty comfy, and I had no trouble opening opening/closing it, and making it into a bed. It was too firm to lay on at the head of the bed, but the other end was very comfortable, so that would become the head side.

    There are downsides.

    1. Construction was plywood instead of metal, so it was very, very, heavy, and because of so much wood, the arms were much wider, so a much smaller seating space. It felt really cramped for a 68" sofa.

    2. The storage compartment under the cushion was only 7" - 8" clearance, and not as wide as our current sofa, due to the use/abuse of lots of wood, which meant my storage area got a whole lot smaller. My little vacuum would not even fit. Also, we need at least 11" clearance for 2 6V batteries.

Our MH is not that big, and storage is at a premium, so unfortunately this sofa will not work for us. Now I am back to probably having the original sofa recovered. (Thanks a lot Manufacturer, for using such an inferior product:( )
However, if you have a larger MH, or do not need much in the way of under-sofa storage, you could do a lot worse than the Tri-Fold.
