I recently helped our neighbors with some annual maintenance on their motorhome. They are relatively new to the RV world, and not in the least mechanically inclined. We flushed the fresh water tank, changed the oil in the generator, checked the batteries, etc. I asked if they were keeping the black tank maintained. The wife told me they dump the tank every morning when they travel...and that they "bag their toilet paper". YIKES!!
I tried to tell them that with the use of plenty of water, that is certainly not necessary. And, that it would be much better to just let the tank fill...and then dump it as needed.
They insisted that they would continue with their current procedure, as they feared having problems.
