First, we use Costco's Kirkland brand toilet paper in the RV and have never had a problem. Several years ago in the Costco magazine they talked about how Costco formulated the paper to be RV and septic safe.
As far as not disposing of the toilet paper. In most East European nations and South America nations, their sewer system cannot handle the paper. When in Greece, we stopped at a factory of religious plaques. In the restroom, there was a plastic laundry basket for the toilet paper, no lid. Hotels and the Greek ferry's did have small steel containers next to the commode with a lid.
I have to admit that there was no smell and I am very sensitive to smells.
