I've had diaper genies (when I had kids in diapers) - it smelled
I've used odorized contraptions (again diapers) - it smelled
Anytime something with $hit on it is stored or placed anywhere besides down the toilet, it smells. Whether you smell it or not is a different story. Kind of like when you go into someone's house that has a dozen cats, it smells but they don't smell it...
