I've got one of these:

This is the second one I've owned. First one, bought it at a household estate auction and burned diesel in it all the time. Smelly, yucky, smokey. It finally died.
Then got one like the image above and started burning nothing but kerosene in it. Yea, it costs a little more, but it burns so much cleaner, and does not loose it's flamability (whatever that's called). I take it to a nearby gas station at the beginning of every winter and fill up all 12 gallons. It will last me most of the winter and chilly spring weather in my bigger, un-attached garage. What's left will not get old. I used it very little last year, probably have 9/10ths of a tank left and been using it this fall a lot more. It still burns clean, no, or very minimal odor and works like a champ.
Those suckers can sure blast the heat in a short time! Making them much more pleasant than attempting to heat the garage with slow electric!
