At the refinery I hauled fuel from Diesel-50; Heating oil-50; Kerosene; Jet A - was all loaded from the same spout as it is the same product.
Boy I'm sure glad you aren't delivering fuel to my area.
#1 and #2 Diesel and #1 and #2 Heating oil are very similar. You can put diesel fuel in your home tank in a pinch to keep your furnace going. But, in my area you can't put heating oil in your diesel powered vehicle. I mean you can but, it's a dirtier fuel and it will plug up your filters quicker and you don't want to run the risk of a plugged injector.
Kerosene is different all together. I don't know what Jet A is.
You are pretty close. Heating oil is #1 fuel, furnace oil is #2 fuel, and Diesel was a better refined, slightly higher cetane fuel. I haven't seen true Diesel fuel for years, it was more expensive.
I hauled the stuff for 17 years, and Caveman Charlie is correct. Every refinery or pipeline terminal I hauled the stuff out of, #1 fuel, kerosene, and Jet A came out of the same pipe. The only difference was the additives.
I also prefer to do my own blending of fuel in the winter. I know what works for my engines. I would also never use gasoline in fuel to prevent gelling.
