That is what happens when you tow right at the edge of a vehicle's ability. Seen it many many times on this board. Hopefully the bigger hitch and increased tire pressures will help you get over this handicap. If it helps, then I would go tire shopping. Still a lot cheaper than getting a different trailer or new truck.

Just crazy that a 24 ft camper gets this close to the limit of this truck. I imagine it gets old with people asking for help like this but I do appreciate it. I hope to be able to report back on Wednesday how it goes. If it’s not good, then I’ve made my mind up to get rid of this camper and get something with a 600 or so tongue weight. If it’s good, I will look into tires.
It scares the **** out of me as my best friend, father of my god children is getting ready to buy a massive 31 ft camper and I am trying to educate him on weight ratings. His truck is lighter duty than mine (8.8 axle vs 9.75) but with more payload capability (lesser trim level). He keeps telling me, well the dealer and literature says 1/2 ton towable. Yeah, you can tow about anything, but these places do not care about making sure it’s legal and or safe. Going by the “tow rating” is a no go. My truck can tow and additional 5,000 lbs but I’m maxed out before I even hit that.
