disconnect, hide electrical cord when overnite at Walmart?

I occasionally overnight at rest areas, truck stops and Walmarts. I have a toad behind my motorhome and of course there is an electrical cord connecting the two. Who disconnects the cord and stows it ...

At a truck fuel station a trucker told we kids were messing around the tow bar while we were inside. They didn't change anything but now I always check before driving off.
