This is a rough figure, you may find it is not correct. BUT, when I have lost about 300+ lbs off the FA from the hitch wt added to the RA, WD is helpfull putting some of that wt back to the FA so steerage, etc is put back to a more normal amount. The hitch amount will vary based on the WB, RA spring capacity, how soft the springs, amount of HW. Going to heavier capacity springs will lesson the amount of wt taken off the FA, so WD will not be needed.......Initially the amoung taken off the FA will not be as much per lb to the hitch, as MOST of our trucks are rear high. Once the rear settles below level, more wt is taken off the front as a % of what is put on the rear.
From the OP's standpoint, I do not personally see a reason for sway or WD. if the trailer sways, then the trailer is not setup correctly, putting a sway system is putting a band aid on a cut that needs a tourniquet. While it may stop the sway per say, the trailer still wants to sway. So if a bar falls off, come disconnected, or some other breakage, you now have a trailer that will start swaying. Many of us have lost bars or equal on the road. Because I make it so my trailers pull strait etc at 60-65 with out bars, the one time I lost a bar, I did not notice for upwards of 100 miles. Distance I traveled from stop to stop.
A WD will slow the side to side rocking of a trailer in wind gusts, vs nothing. An equalizer or dual cam will calm this effect even more. But stopping the feeling of a wind gust, BIG truck blowing by you....not happening. You will still feel these items.
