Not sure about the motors on either, or the pitch on the Carefree.
We had an AE auto awning on our last DP with the rain sensor. We could override the rain sensor, which was pretty cool, and it had good pitch.
This point just came up for us with window awnings. Called 5 different dealers and they all told me the same thing...... Carefree used to be the best, but the quality has gone downhill severely in the last couple years for some reason. Don't know why. We are installing AE/ Dometic awnings.
when I was looking at slide toppers and window awnings my dealer mentioned the same thing. Says they are having way less issues with dometic/A&E compared to carefree. And they can get parts for dometic much quicker as well.
Our trailer has a dometic electric and it has the adjustable arms for tilt. Easy to use and great in the rain. When we bought ours (2010) Carefree didn't have that feature, just the "rain dump" which ends up like a tsunami - BillB800siExplorerDometic has an electric "Premium" awning line that doesn't have the scissor arms on it. Withstands winds up to 100 MPH.
Take a look here: Dometic Awning
It's truly amazing and if I ever have to replace ours that's the one I'll get.
Happy trails, - Campfire_TimeExplorerI have no experience with power awnings. But we had a Carefree on our old HTT. We bought it new, owned it 10 years and the awning was flawless the entire time.
We bought a new HTT in May of this year. Its has a Dometic awning. Its a piece of junk. I'm considering replacing it with a Carefree. - Nutinelse2doExplorerNot sure about the motors on either, or the pitch on the Carefree.

I have no idea where the motor is located in it nor anything about the pitch. We had manual awnings on our fifth wheel and travel trailer, we would not go back to those.
