I live in the south and you probably know more about winterizing than I do. But I don't understand why you would put antifreeze into the system and then immediately drain it out. Aren't you going to need to flush the system next spring anyway. What is the advantage of draining the antifreeze now.
Not trying to be a wise guy, just trying to understand.
The reason you drain it out and leave it empty is to negate some of the taste of it in the lines especially if you have it in your fresh water tank all winter.There will be no water in the system to drip down as suggested,water was all displaced with anti freeze if done properly.And of course to drain the water heater you remove the drain plug and open the relief valve.The anode is actually part of the drain plug.Leave the drain open and all taps and showers so air replaces the anti freeze just like you did when draining the water out initially.Lay your shower head in the tub or shower so the hose also drains.Water only breaks things when it turns to ice and has no room to expand.
