Both are breaking the law, difference being, the person in the left lane is breaking the law with the intent purpose of being a jerk to those behind him.azrving wrote:
Holding up traffic or holding up a speeder? Oh I forgot, things that others do are wrong but speeding is ok.
X2 ... How can I impead traffic if I'm driving the posted limit? Does the other driver see a different speed limit?- Ralph_CramdenExplorer II

Yep, I have the mindset of an offender, and proud of it. Last time I looked those speed limit signs were mere steel and paint, not carved in stone. They're just reasonable suggestions. I do obey the speed limit where it is sensible to do so: congested areas, work zones, school zones, city surface streets, etc. But the wide-open interstate with little to no traffic? Not a chance.
No sense having a bike that will do 140+ and never get over 75.
Same for stop signs, left turns, u turns etc. It should all be judged by the situation not a ridged set of rules.
All mere suggestions ROFLMAO! - azrvingExplorer

citizens aren't supposed to enforce traffic laws. that's the job of law enforcement. - bikendanExplorer

Universally not enforced. Worse driver habit after texting.
THIS!!! - HadEnoughExplorerSome people were never taught to drive properly, I've found out. Some view the left lane as an equivalent and equal lane to the right lane and are completely unaware of the fact that it's the passing lane.

Because most drivers NOT driving an RV will not do the speed limit..
If you are driving in the left lane doing the speed limit and there is someone else in the right lane doing the speed limit, guess what is going to happen??
There will always be those that will exceed the posted speed limit.. They need to get to the front of the line, so why not just let them go..
Can't count how many speeders that go flying past me (towing or not) and find them pulled over a few miles ahead of me.. I just call them "rabbits" and keep on cruising.. I will only go in the left lane to pass or to let those idiots that don't know how to merge onto a hwy room, but will always move to the right lane when just cruising and no slow drivers that I need to pass.. Yes, there are some that go below the speed limit in the right lane.. Go figure...
To just ride the left lane is where I think the law comes into play..
Sure, in rush hour traffic, there is no way they can enforce the left lane rule, so they don't..
It's when you get the "I'm doing the speed limit, so I can drive in the left lane all I want" folks that the law has to be made..
Enforcement is whatever it is and when there are LEO's around that will do it..
Anyway, don't be an ass and just ride the left lane doing the speed limit when there is ample space in the right lane..
Bad road conditions in the right lane? Well, that's a DOT issue and your states hwy budget or whatever..
Good luck out there... It's a mad, mad, mad world.. :)

Same thing here but people do it with impunity all the time.
The law in Washington has been on the books for over 25 years!
I got pulled over about 24 years ago, for driving in the left lane of I 90 near Ritsville (just me and 2 WSP officers in sight). The right lane was very rough, got off with a warning!
Basicly “far left” lane is for passing. Nothing new.
I have towed in left lane many times where the right lane is beating the HE!! out of my rigs. I figure if I get pulled over I will say fix your roads and I will drive in the appropriate lanes.
I do move over when someone is coming up behind me. wnjj wrote:
Or lazy or possibly passive aggressive.
Camping in the left lane impededing traffic is either obliviousness or intentionally being a jerk.
Of course in CA if you get over to the right you could be 30 minutes before there is an inch of space to pass the trucker going 60. Often the roads are just crammed with far more vehicles than the road was designed.
Otherwise the worst of the speeders, tailgaters, and lane hogs can get a citation.
