OP Is this your plan? If so you're installing a 120/240V 30A 4 wire 3 pole circuit with a 50A plug. Anything else not so good.

The cost of a 30A two pole breaker and a 50A two pole breaker is very little. The cost DIFFERENCE is not enough to worry about with 30A to 50A wire. Do it right!
So the poor slob that may buy your house in the future rightfully thinking there is a real 50A plug will be screwed.
