If you had an existing unused 30a circuit then by all means I would say just use it.

I do have a question or two, do you have a 240 volt 30 amp breaker or a 120 volt 30 amp breaker?
If you have a double pole breaker, you would end up with either a 240 volt 60 amps between the legs or 30 amps on each leg to the common. If you have a single pole breaker you will have 120 volts with 30 amps same as a 30 amp circuit.
As is mentioned in other posts if you wire it with a jumper it is and always will be 30 amps.
