Once the snap up bent, then the chain hangs a lot farther out and pulls on the DC arm in a twisting motion. As the turn progressed that friction dragging force went up the cam arm to the A frame. Since the cam arm was being twisted by the outward handing chain, the combo of both them bent the DC frame plate mounting area of the A frame which may have been aggravated by the flat washers behind it creating a localized point load.

This is the other side of the frame. It didn't have the snap-up failure and there isn't a big dent from the snap up pinch bolt.
