I was concerned about the effect of the varying slope at the front of the bar and the tendency of the TV to roll about its roll axis as a WD bar swings on its trunnion.

Bottom line -- I think you shouldn't infer too much about WD bar loads (or lift chain tensions) based solely on distance from WD bar to a point on the A-frame.
But -- using a straightedge to measure the actual deflection of the WD bar from its unloaded shape should give useful information.
