Dumb question: how do you pay at Love's truck stop?

DH and I are on the road and in Mississippi. We tried to use a credit card at the truck stop/diesel portion of a Love's and it refused two credit cards "invalid transaction". Since we didn't want ...

I pulled into one in Quartzsite, AZ last month and it worked with my debit card but it was or is not suppose to work?? I phoned the cashier inside while pumping with a question about the price and she said it was not suppose to go thru only as stated above.
