First of all it depends on the rules and regulations where you are. In Colorado it is legal to dump grey water, just not in camp grounds. Grey water has been used for generations of farmers and ranchers for irrigation purposes. I use it on some property I own in Colorado for just that. Next one should look at where you are dumping. Ground that is already saturated or that holds water on the surface is not good for grey water dumping. Find some area that is porous or that drains well. Next, it is never legal or a good idea to dump black water in the forest or in a field. The concentration of waste should be drained in an appropriate location, ie dump station. You may have to drive a ways or use a buddy tank to dump your black water but that's why they make those devices. Finally, use a little common sense. Don't dump your grey water ten feet from someone's tent even if you aren't in a campground. Good manners makes good neighbors.
The entire thread is about how many ways can I justify my improper dumping, and justifying why its ok for you to violate the law…
How can I count the ways…
My tank is smaller than most isn’t justification…
Trust me mine don’t stink isn’t justification…
Someone else does it isn’t justification…
Someone else does much worse isn’t justification either, which includes fracking its all polluting…
To say that the dumping of wastewater is just commonsense, is JUST ludicrous…
Now there are commonsense ways of treating and handling of ay water for reuse… while camping at a CG that generally involves finding and using a proper dump station…
As far as I know all states allow the reuse of gray water also require some level of treatment before it can be used… there is no story (only misinformation) unless you include the requirements for reuse in your statement that is allowed…
Apparently it is Only now becoming legal to reuse it in Colorado, again with to be determined treatment and handling…

The Senate agriculture committee Wednesday afternoon unanimously approved a bill designed to reduce water consumption by using "gray water" for flushing toilets and watering lawns.
Gray water is treated water from showers, hand-washing sinks and washing machines. Water from toilets, urinals or kitchen sinks is not allowed.
Colorado is the only western state that doesn't allow treated gray water to be used, but House Bill 1044 aims to change that.
It legalizes the use of gray water, calls for the development of regulations to protect the public health and gives cities and counties the discretion to offer gray water permits to single- or multi-family dwellings.
The measure is sponsored by Sen. Gail Schwartz, D-Snowmass Village, and Rep. Randy Fischer, D-Fort Collins. It already has passed the House, and now will be heard by Senate Appropriations.
