Dyson DC 59 animal vacuum

I am looking at the Dyson dc 59 animal vacuum cleaner for our 5th wheel. For the money is it all that it is cracked up to be? Please only reply if you use one of these.....It is an expensive mistake to make...

  • I don't know what model we have, but it was worth every penny. It is about 10 years old. We made the decision to buy it after borrowing a friends. We used our existing vacuum with a new bag and freshly cleaned of anything wrapped around the beater bar to vacuum our living room. We checked the bag to find a small amount of dirt. Then we used the Dyson and it was almost unbelievable the amount of dirt we got out.

Bought one the next day and have never looked back. It works great on pet hair as well as stuff on the carpet.
  • We have the DC35 Wireless Multi-Floor model and it works great on dog hair for tile and carpet. It has the crevice nozzle, dust brush and the carpet brush. My only complaint is I wish it had a few more minutes of battery capacity.

For such a small vacuum, it has a lot of suction. Periodically you have to pull the brush our and cut the hair and threads from the brush.

I was wondering if the animal version was any better than ours. We have had ours for a bit over two years.

  • Absolutely get it!

I have the 59, and using the small pet-hair attachment, I can clean a cloth chair (with folds in it) darn near clean of cat hair. Comes in handy for the bed, too.

This model is very powerful, and is now our only household unit. It's light and cordless, which means it's not a chore to vacuum, so I do a lot more than I ever did (or would) with a big heavy corded model. I'm not saying it's better than corded, but, with its ease of use, you can vacuum more often.

I have a 35 in the RV, but it's not as powerful, and I don't travel with cats! If you need more review, visit Amazon.
  • We have one of their stick vacuums although I'm not sure it is the exact same number. I'm thinking ours is a 44. Dyson seems to have several vacs that look alike but different numbers. Whatever our model number is, it works great. We use it primarily in house between major vacuuming with a corded Dyson canister vacuum (not sure of number on it either). The only negative is if you have a dog (assuming you do since looking at the Animal) that has long hair, it will wrap up on the beater bar brush roller thingie. The brush is easy to remove and clean though using just a quarter or side of a small key. I usually use our MH cargo door key.
  • I have a Dyson DC18 (not named specifically by Dyson for Pets and not priced almost $100 more to be named as a pet vacuum) but I do love it. I had 3 cats, a dog and a parakeet and this vacuum works great. It doesn't take up too much room, so we take it with us in the motor home (pets included). Recently my husband took it out to vacuum the boat out. He had taken his sister's two golden retrievers out and couldn't get the fur out of the indoor/outdoor carpeting in the boat without using our Dyson.
  • Our daughter swears by hers. I used it while at her house when taking care for the grandchildren.

I thought it was pretty easy to use, suction good but would look around more and compare before I spent that kind of money. That's just me.
  • I have a Dyson animal vacuum that is at least 8 years old. I love it. Their customer service is also quite good. Mine is one of the larger older models so taking it in the MH is not really feasible. But I do use it to clean up when we get back to base. Sort of scary what it will pull out of a carpet.

It must be powerful if it can suck up animals.
