Ever been totally rained out?

Yes.

It ended up being one our more enjoyable trips.

After being housebound all winter, we finally managed to sneak a couple days off work in Feb for a 4 day weekend. The forecast was for scattered showers but we were stir crazy and needed a camping fix, so we went anyway to Lake Oroville.

It poured all weekend. Raining in horizontal sheets almost constantly.

It almost beat us, but we stuck it out. Played games, read a lot.
The plus side is we had the whole campground to ourselves as everyone else left. There were the occasional breaks in the storm. When the rain temporarily abated the wildlife really came out in force. Squirrels, birds, and a fox were wandering through the empty campground after being denned up for days.

Never been flooded out but had a spring break trip to the oregon coast have rain every day. We mafe the best of it and still had fun.

We have had a few trips that have been spent undercover due to the rain all day. We usually make reservations for camping and I have to work every other weekend. That means we go,rain or shine. We have camped in pop ups,a hybrid and now a travel trailer. I recently bought a 10x20 Shelter Logic carport at Tractor Supply and set it up if the weather is questionable. We generally go to state campgrounds so there is no power and we still do most of our activities outside. We make the best of it and it seems like the rainy ones are the talk about most.

Must have been the same time we were there. We must have been parked on the high ground though, it was only four inches deep.

A campground in PA was flooded - their driveway was impassable x 24 + hrs. Even when driveway was open more than 1/2 CG was under water - including the playground. Plus the "stream" in back was raging floodwater. With more rain forecast for the next day. I had an active toddler and didn't want to stay for safety reasons.

We had reservations for 4 days and I asked for a refund since A) we couldn't even get in for more than 24 hrs and were told to stay at Walmart until they were ready for us and B) playground was under 3ft. of water and C) they were packing in people in any available spot (i.e. my site had 2 units on it!). I did request a refund, but they quoted the "we don't refund for rain" clause.... I insisted on one nights refund before I left b/c I was ready to pull in on Friday - they were the ones whose driveway was unpassable.

Please send your 9+ inches of rain to Dallas, we need it!:)

With that much rain in a mountainous area in such a short time, you probably made a sound decision. Water is still accumulating and raising 24 hours after the storm event and another rain event would make it more hazardous.

First-ever camping trip, with four kids in a tent, we went to Port Angeles over the Memorial Day weekend. It rained continuously all three days and nights. Total rainfall was nearly one inch! In western Washington it rains a lot, but it doesn't rain much!

Oue second trip was completely the opposite - July 4th in eastern WA with daytime highs abut 103F. Those were the only tent camping trips we took. We sold the tent when we got home from the second trip.

Rained and flooded out many times here in Oklahoma.
As tatest mentioned we have many large COE lakes that have flood control rises from 10' up to over 30'.
Several times over the years the COE park rangers/county deputies pound on our doors in the middle of the night with a warning to leave "NOW" as the roads getting in/out are going under water.

We were spending the night in the city park of Montrose, SD on our way to Mt. Rushmore. We had crossed a bridge over a totally empty small river bed to get to the park. During the night it rained and rained - the sound on the roof of our trailer was quite comforting and we slept like babies. We were totally oblivious to what was happening outside. We woke in the morning to clear weather, but 6 inches of water covering the entire park *and* the bridge! We sloshed through the water to get to the TV and tried to start it thinking we would at least move to whatever higher ground we could find, but with all the wetness it wouldn't. We walked into town (crossing the bridge by using the side railings sort of like a sideways ladder) looking for an auto parts store. We found one and asked for wire drying spray - they said they didn't carry it - it never rains there.

We ended up just waiting it out for the water to recede some back into the river bed and dried the wires with a hair dryer. The worst part was the flood must have caused the potable water to become un-potable as I made lemonade and we were then very sick for many days. We'll never forget dragging our sick selves out of the TV to get a glimpse of the faces.
