The RV industry needs to address its QA issues. The American Auto Industry was taught the same lesson by the Honda's and Toyota's of this world in the 70's. In an age of 10 year, 100,000 mile warranties (doubled at some dealers) that an RV is only warrantied for 12 months seems unrealistic. There is an expectation that things will be built right to begin with. Cracked frames, water leaks and "china bomb" tire does little to help their image.
I'd rather tow an extra 1,000# and have it built right than worry about durability.
Better QA and a 5 year manufacture warranty would probably boost sales.
The attitude that if the customer did not catch it on the PTI that's its the buyer's fault is baloney. Most 1st time buyers think it's like buying a car. They expect it to work and expect the company to stand behind their product not play "gotcha". If I called any of the big 3 about a frame issue (pick a supplier part). I doubt I would be told to call the company who made that part for them.
GM's facing an ignition switch recall yet the RV manufacture will say it's your problem the frame cracked. When's the last time you heard someone complain a pickup truck frame cracked?
Where else can you spend tens of thousands of dollars and find it's held together with staple?
