It doesn’t matter if it cost hundreds or thousands, the warranty period isn’t hidden, you know agree and except it when you sign on the dotted line… the warranty doesn’t include use or limited use to define its length of coverage… but it does require you to do certain maintenance items and repairs to keep the warranty in force, even if you never use it…
Of course if you have an objection to the one year warranty and it is an issue for you, that is the perfect time to address those issues and exercise your options…
Sure there are things that may not turn up within the warranty period and the same thing happens with autos that never get used… it would be nice if the warranty for anything automatically extended due to light use, but it is silly to think it would…
It could be worse if you bought one 3 weeks old… the warranty only applies to the original owner, so if one is bought by a second owner 3 weeks into the warranty the warranty period ends at 3 weeks…
You guys are trying to throw and mix safety related issues into a debate that is about general quality… only to muddy the water, to extend an argument where one doesn’t exist… common practice but two different animals…
if there is a safety related issue in the RV they are required to report and recall them… they have, and they do…
In regards to my backhoe example… If he would have had to lose time on the machine because of mechanical issues, he would have been responsible to notify me of the problem or to immediately return the unit to the place of pick-up, otherwise, no I would not credit him… I don’t care if he didn’t even run it a week ago Fri… I couldn’t use it because he had it, not because mechanical problems, and he could have used it for 3 shifts if he wanted and there wouldn’t have been a premium added either…
He had problems he didn’t expect causing the job to run many times over his estimate… certainly not my problem…
