Factory GM Brake Controllers

We recently upgraded our TV and it appears I no longer need my trusty Prodigy brake controller. I have not yet pulled our trailer with the new truck and was curious what everyone's experience was the GM factory brake controllers. Our trailer is roughly 8500# loaded. What settings do you use? Any adjustment tricks? This is all new to me and appreciate any guidance you can offer.

Sorry, but i disagree. The gm itbc is ok, but the prodigy p3 i had prior was a stronger braking unit. I had the factory itbc in the 15 Silverado i had. Just my opinion
  • My TT loaded is lighter than your's.....just short of 5,000 pounds. For me the GM brake controller has worked wonderfully. Two panic stops for dopes left turning in front of me...straight and true. I'm set at 6.5.
