A colleague at NASA (early 1970s) had worked for Open Road RV in Florida. They decided to try rail shipping. They sent two new rigs from FLA to Chicago by rail. He was one of the people sent out to see what level of damage the rail shipment had caused.
He opened the entry door to each rig and found the entire interior of each was just a big pile of rubble. No further discussion of rail shipment!
