Fantastic Vent on Auto and Unattended

I prefer the Aeroflo Vent Cover to the MaxxAir. It is hinged to open so you can clean your vent.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess it's time to add a cover to our rig. We did it ourselves on the last few, so we can do it again on this one, and then I don't have to worry.

I use covers on all of my roof vents and this pretty well protects them.

I do not have any fantastic fans on out trailer but I would think that that one would install Maxxair covers on any vents that they were leaving open.

I would never even consider driving down the road with my fantastic fans on and sticking up, at least not without a hood cover over them. I am pretty sure they wouldn't last much past the first semi passing me and they would be torn off.

I have watched them in 25 to 35mph winds and could tell the little arms were not going to be able to keep the lids from folding over.

We do have the rain sensor and although we've had vent covers on previous RV's, we don't have them over this one. Makes sense too about the dust. I'll watch the weather forecast if I plan to be away from our rig. Thanks again for all the information.

In my old camper I had the Fantastic fan stick open in a storm. We got back and found water all over the floor. I don't know for sure what happened, it worked before and after this. But I think the wind kept it from closing and the mechanism just stopped trying. Had to crank it down by manually!
I would get a cover if I was going to leave it on and not be there. But of course it's your decision!

Winds will rip a OEM vent lid off.

Fantastic Vent Fan lids no NOT close due to winds....they will close due to rain if you have the sensor and it is clean). And they will close based on temp via t-stat

But w/o a 'vent cover' over the OEM vent lid.......the lid can be damaged/torn off due to winds

I have covers so I have no qualms about having them in Auto/t-stat control .
One is set to blow in, other is set to exhaust out.
And with covers can even enjoy air flow when it rains.

I have solar and will run my fans in the storage lot during hot weather. I've also used the thermostat control to run it for several days at a time that way.

But I do try to balance it-and use them in hot weather only. They do draw in quite a bit of dust. I'm fortunate to have window in my shower-I'll open that to allow air entry-quite a bit of the dust will just fall into the shower.

If I lived in a very hot climate where I'd need to do this often, I'd rig up some kind of furnace filter in the open window to catch dust from entering air.
