Feeling deflated

Got a tire with a slow leak. 4 days sitting & it goes from 85PSI down to about 30. Carefully checked the tread...twice, for anything piercing it. Nothing. Metal valve stem seems tight. Now what? Have not checked valve itself with liquid soap.

No real big deal since I carry a 130# PSI compressor but it is a nuisance.
  • I just bought a couple of Michelin tires at Costco this week and was reminded that they have a five year warranty that includes fixing flats, even changing a wheel on the road and towing if no spare is available. This is a Michelin warranty, included with the purchase from Costco. I paid $36 recently to have a tire fixed after it collected a small roofing staple. The place I took it to is not a Michelin dealer so I guess I can't claim a refund.

That seems a high price. Only tire shop in town and I don't buy tires there because they are much more expensive than Costco. I also had an argument with them after two of their tires failed in less than five years. The guy said nobody makes long life tires these days. I said Michelin did. The two michelins I replaced this week were 10 and 11 years old.
  • I had the same problem with one of my truck tires with metal valve stems. Took it in to my local tire shop where I bought them and they found a bad seal on the valve stem. Replaced at no charge.
