Finally 2014 Cherokee base plate install

Can't wait to get rid of those red tow hooks in the front. Car is going in tomorrow for the Blue Ox base plate install and break- away cable. I went with the wireless magnetic tow lights as diodes were the only way to wire the lights otherwise. Can't wait to get the MH out.

Schedule for warranty work April 3rd. Hope the snow is gone here. Got nailed with 7" again last night.
  • Well, I guess they lied to me because that's the reason the trans line was damaged, according to the dealer. Interesting. Makes me wonder about the installation all together. Supposedly they do these all the time.

    Like they say, if you want it done right do it yourself.
  • I was able to purchase plug n play harness for my Jeep G C overland from Demco
  • I also installed blue ox base plates on my 2014 trailhawk. There were no holes to be drilled. Only a tab on the bottom of the bumper bracket had to be trimmed.
  • odd, I installed my blue ox baseplate in my trailhawk and no drilling was required in the frame

    The only way to wire tow lights for the 2014 Cherokee is diodes. I'm not splicing into the cars electrical system no matter how safe others claim it to be. I don't need more electrical problems causing warranty issues. The wireless lights take about as much time to connect. The lights I purchased don't just have rubbed boots. They're sealed to the magnets. They weren't cheap, but built real nice.

    I purchased the Rc 1 independent lights.

  • If you have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailkawk take note if installing a Blue Ox base plate. On the drivers side there is a hole needed to be drilled through the cars frame. Directly behind where that hole goes is the transmission cooler line. If you or the installer isn't careful you can damage it. Happened to ours.

    Also take note of the transmission cooler. Some notes from the repairing Jeep dealer indicated the transmission cooler rubs the Blue Ox base plate installation. It had to be removed to get to the line for replacement.
