The truck's front axle weight will go down when you drop a trailer tongue on the hitch ball. Think about a lever or seesaw with the "middle" fulcrum being the truck's rear axle. A WDH is adjusted appropriately when the front axle weight is fully restored to unhitched weight.
So with my front end only having a 40lb difference after the trailer is connected with the WHD, the hitch seems to be setup correctly.
