Its funny, my yellow sticker says my front axle can carry about 6000 lbs and the rear about 6800 lbs (going from memory as it is storming out right now but I looked at it the other day)My payload says around 2500 lbs or more. Now when I weighed my truck and trailer before, my truck weighed about 8,000 lbs. I can't recall the empty weights but my truck says it can weigh 4800 lbs more. Now how can that be if my capacity is around 2500 lbs....in other words, I am not close to my axle weight limit nor close to my GAWR but I am close to the GVWR. So am I going to sweat it that I may be over my payload but I am not even close to the axle weight limit? NO, but I won't over do it either.
This is due to "pickup truck carefully considered engineering math", where: front axle GAWR 5,200lbs + rear axle GAWR 6,300lbs = GVWR 9,900lbs and don't you DARE haul at 11,500lbs or the world will fall down, DOT will lead you away in handcuffs, warranties will be revoked, tires will disintegrate, rv.net weight police will...
As opposed to "class 8 truck engineering math", where: front axle GAWR 12,000lbs + rear axles GAWR 40,000lbs = GVWR 52,000lbs., and you can load your truck to that every day all day...
